Ceremony Marks Expansion of Telx's Data Center Footprint in Strategically Located Markets
NEW YORK, NY--(Marketwire - May 11, 2012) - Telx®, a leading provider of global interconnectivity, cloud computing enablement services and data center solutions, marked the beginning of construction on its new flagship data center facility at Two Peekay Drive in Clifton, New Jersey today with a ceremony that featured Telx CEO Eric Shepcaro, New Jersey Lt. Governor Kim Guadagno and Clifton Mayor Jim Anzaldi. Built in conjunction with Mountain Development Corporation, the new energy efficient and purpose-built cloud connection center will offer customized, high power density solutions for small, medium and enterprise businesses, expanding Telx's footprint in the New Jersey data center landscape.
"Officially breaking ground on the Peekay facility significantly increases our role in the New Jersey business community and further expands the global connectivity solutions that Telx offers its clients," said Eric Shepcaro, CEO, Telx. "During this challenging economic time our investment in this new facility represents Telx's commitment to business development and high-tech job growth in the tri-state area.
An incubator of investment and economic growth in the New Jersey area, Telx's $200 million (inclusive of Mountain Development's costs for the building shell) new cloud connection center will add 250 people to the New Jersey workforce during the period of the facility's construction. Current and future Telx clients will have the business flexibility they need to grow with private cages and connectivity to more than 400 carriers, business exchanges and enterprises.
The three-story, flagship data center adds 215,000 gross square feet of high power density, energy efficient space and more than 100,000 square feet of market-leading, customizable colocation space to meet the growing requirements of global customers for heavily networked, outsourced solutions. Like all of Telx's C3 Cloud Connection Centers, the Peekay facility is a managed, carrier-neutral, secure networking environment for carriers, ISP's, content providers, financial service companies, bio-pharma and enterprise businesses. In addition, the new facility follows green, energy-efficient standards in accordance with LEED requirements.
"Our Peekay Cloud Connection Center offers customers secure and direct access to Telx's expansive ecosystem with close proximity to the most important telecommunications and fiber hubs in the world," said Michael Terlizzi, executive vice president of engineering & construction, Telx.
In addition to Telx CEO Eric Shepcaro, the event featured remarks by Kim Guadagno, Lt. Governor, the State of New Jersey; Jim Anzaldi, Mayor of Clifton; Mike Terlizzi, Executive Vice President of Operations for Telx as well as Michael Seeve and L. Robert Lieb of Mountain Development Corporation.
